REVIEW

Colton Stark has it all.  He's filthy rich, he's good looking, he has women falling at his feet for a chance to spend one night in his bed, and he's exceptionally smart having graduated at the top of his class at MIT.  But Colton Stark has been tired of his life for a long time.  He only owns 49% of his empire, his father having left the rest of the company in the hands of the board.  Colton has a plan that no one can find out about.

Sophia grew up in the streets of Miami. Her great grandfather, grandfather, and father were cops before her and it was only natural that Sophia followed in their footsteps much to the dismay of her father.  Sophia is not afraid of a challenge and to stand up for herself and those in need, she makes the perfect cop.  Her next challenge?  Find out what Colton Stark is up to.

He may be super smart, but he's suspected of being a trafficker and stealing money from his company.  Her job is to get as close as she can to him and find out what he is hiding.  There's just one problem... she wasn't expecting her attraction to Colton.

This story was interesting.  In the first part, we meet both Colton and Sophia and what happens before they meet and the first night they meet.  The only issue I had with this story was that since it is told in four parts, not much actually happens in the first part.  I can't wait to read the next part when it comes out, but it just kind of leaves you hanging there in need of something more than what the first part offered.  Because of that, I give it 4 stars.

Blog Tour: Overwhelmed by You by Nashoda Rose - Review & Giveaway

Overwhelmed by you blog tour banner

Synopsis

Love is ugly and secrets will destroy you.
KAT I don’t beg. I don’t cry. And I don’t give second chances. Ream, the lead guitarist from the band Tear Asunder, deserves a gold medal for best dick move ever when he ran the moment he discovered my secret after two days of hot sex. Then he brings some chick to my coming home party from the hospital—after being shot. I hate him. Until … Ream’s six foot two frame unfolds out of the car after being gone on tour for eight months. I stared, unable to help myself. And in my defense, any girl would stare. It would almost be rude not to because Ream was the type of guy who stood out. Not because he had pink hair or shouted or was obnoxious. No, it was because he was the complete opposite. Subtle and dangerously quiet. If he spoke, you’d better hope he liked you because otherwise you’d be falling at his feet begging for mercy. Except me … I don’t beg—ever. But when our eyes locked, it was Ream’s confident cold indifference that had my nerves shooting off like jet sprinklers. Then… Ream told me he didn’t need a second chance because he was still working on his first. REAM Sex is ugly. It’s using someone for your own narcissistic pleasure. I did it and I hated it—until her. She was unfuckinexpected. Then I had to wreck our beginning with my screwed up past. I don’t deserve her, but I’m selfish and I’m taking her anyway. This is who I am and it’s too late to change me.

REVIEW:

For lovers of 'With You' and 'Torn From You' comes 'Overwhelmed by You' the next book in the Tear Asunder series. While each book can be read alone, I recommend reading 'With You' and 'Torn From You' prior to reading 'Overwhelmed by You'.

This story is Ream and Kat's story. We first met Ream and Kat in Torn From You, book 1 in the Tear Asunder series. Ream is a cold and dark man who uses women as then throws them away when he's done. He's dark, he's fierce, and Kat is drawn to him. Kat hasn't had it easy growing up, her parents died in a car accident leaving her and her older brother, Matt without parents. Left to fend for themselves and Matt to raise his younger sister, that day changed Kat forever and there would be other moments growing up that would change who she is today forever.

Ream also has a dark past, one that no one knows about, one that keeps him from allowing women to get close to him. That is everyone, but Kat. Kat is kind, caring, loyal, and can hold her own so when they become friends while staying together on the farm, it's only a matter of time before Ream and Kat land in bed together. Their affair is short, it's explosive, and has them wanting to explore more of what they have. That is until Ream discovers Kat's drugs when they fall out of her purse. Losing his sister Haven to drugs is something that Ream has never gotten over. With no father and a mother that is pretty much dead to him, Haven was his only family. That was until she died at the age of sixteen from a drug overdose. Ream is quick to push Kat away, throwing not only their relationship away but their friendship as well. It will be nearly three years later when they see each other again.

Returning from tour for eight months Ream is not the same man that left Kat once before. He's determined to have her back after he thought long and hard about why she said she has the drug on her at all times and how much she needs it. Throwing caution to the wind, Ream is determined to get Kat back even if that means stepping in front of her boyfriend Lance to do it. Kat hasn't been the same since Ream left her and she's determined never to let him back into her life, no second chances. But Ream will do anything to get Kat back even if he has to wear her down. When Kat is attacked, he will do everything in his power to protect the woman that he cares for.

But with Kat's dependency on drugs and a secret she's kept guarded for so many years and a past that Ream does not want to face, can these two make it to their happy ending or will everything fall apart once more.

When I first started this book, I wasn't sure what was going to happen. I thought that maybe it would be a case of get together, fight, break up, get back together, the end. But this story was so much more complex than that. I even can go as far as to say that this book went further than Torn From You did. Don't get me wrong, I love Logan and Emily, but Ream and Kat took their relationship and the secrets that they have to a whole new level. The things that Kat went through are something I can relate to because I have a friend who is going through the same thing. Kat is strong and doesn't let anything get her down, and for that she makes an excellent heroine in this story. She stands by Ream through everything and with the things that go on, she makes one heck of a character. This book is full of love, heartache, lies, deception, and secrets and makes for one heck of a roller coaster ride and will leave you highly anticipating the release of the next book which is Crisis's story. 5 amazing stars for this one and not a book you want to miss.

Delilah “Doll” Reklinger never imagined her life with anyone that wasn’t a Hellion. She never imagined there would be a Hellion that could prove himself worthy enough to her father, Roundman, Hellions Club President. Content in living in the bubble of safety the motorcycle club family has always provided, Doll never thought that danger surrounded her.

Roundman has kept the Hellions contained for the last thirty years by controlling the chaos surrounding their lifestyle. When the dangerous side to their business comes knocking on his door, he realizes his precious Doll isn’t safe. The Hellions code may be that women and children are off limits in any altercation or dispute, but that doesn’t mean their enemies follow that same moral compass.

His only child, now in danger from the association to him and his club, Roundman makes a decision. He sends her away with a charter club member that he trusts, in hopes that the trouble won’t follow.

One ride across the country. One simple ride.

Talon “Tripp” Crews has been ordered to take Doll on one ride away and to keep her safe. She’s off limits. His head knows this, but his body can’t deny the attraction. She’s feisty, fierce, and fearless.

Review

Delilah "Doll" Reklinger grew up the princess of the Hellions MC.  She's always figured she would end up with a Hellion, one who could prove he was worthy of her to her father Roundman, a man her father could accept as President.  She had yet to find someone who made her heartbeat and captured her attention, that is until Talon "Tripp" Cruz.  Tripp likes his women lose, hot, and that know their place.  He never dreamed he would find a woman who would be perfect for his life.  Right from the start they can't seem to get the other out of their mind, but Tripp knows that Doll isn't just a princess of the MC, she's the princess.  She's so far off limits it's not even funny.

Even as her best friend Sass decides to swear off MC men after her friendship is pretty much ruined with Tank after one night of passion, Doll is still determined to find a man in the MC.  Regular men just don't do it for her, she has one in mind, but he's President of his chapter and isn't around much.

Doll thought she was safe in her life, that she was untouchable, that is until an associate decides to target Doll.  While the MC doesn't touch women, others don't feel the same way and these men don't feel that way.  They will do everything they can to get their hands on Doll and prove they can get to her.  With no other choice, Doll and Sass are ordered by their fathers to go on one ride with Rex and Tripp.  It's just supposed to be a simple ride, right?  But things are never that simple.  He's supposed to just keep her safe, but will it become so much more than that as the cousins fight to keep the girls safe at all costs.  Join Doll and Tripp as they go on their one ride that might just change everything they thought they knew forever.

I loved this novel.  Not just because of Tripp and Doll, but all the people in this novel.  I loved Sass and her bickering with Tank and Rex and Caroline, I can't wait to see where their stories go when it's time.  The author did a great job of leaving the story open for Sass so it will leave you wanting more and more and believe me, you'll get it when the next novel comes out.  It was a great story with great characters and I cannot wait to read the other books in this series.  5 stars.

Excerpt

I’m browsing through emails on my phone as I ride the elevator down to the lobby. It halts on the third floor, and I back up to let more people on. I don’t lift my head up as the elevator starts again, but suddenly I’m hit with the sound of laughter.
It’s innocent, young, and vibrant. I’m intrigued, so I shift my body to get a better view of her. My eyes find the young girl in the front by the doors. I watch her from the side and notice she’s on her phone. She’s smiling wide and laughing with whomever she’s speaking to on the phone. The doors slide open, and I walk around a few people to exit, except the girl doesn’t move and I crash right into the back of her, pushing us both out of the elevator before the doors close. Instinctively, I wrap my free arm around her waist to catch her from face planting the floor. Her back is pressed against my chest and for a moment, I don’t want to let go.
Her phone isn’t as lucky. It slips out of her hand and lands on the lobby floor.
“Shit,” she curses and my arm frees her to bend down and grab it off the floor.
“I’m so sorry,” I begin apologizing as I step back. My eyes wonder to her bare legs and up her tone thighs to a pair of black workout shorts. She’s wearing a baggy sweatshirt as if she’d been running or working out. I can smell the fresh sweat on her, but it doesn’t turn me off. In fact, it does the exact opposite.
“That’s okay.” Her voice cracks as she turns around, and I finally get a good look at her. “Oh, Mr. Leighton,” she says surprised, and I immediately curse the bad luck that brings me to my new intern—Casey West.
“Miss West?” I finally say as she stares up at me in silence. “I thought you weren’t coming until Saturday?”
“Hide your disappointment, Mr. Leighton.” The corners of her mouth perk up into a cocky smile. “I was just picking up the paperwork and doing all the background check questions.” Her witty personality is spot on just like the last time.
Everyone that works or interns at Leighton Enterprises goes through an extensive background check for security reasons. All of the files are confidential, and only journalists reporting on the stories can know the exclusive information.
“Ah, yes. Of course, the paperwork.”
Paul failed to mention she’d be here today
She continues eyeing me, and I wonder if she feels the electricity between us as much as I do.
“Well, I’ll see you Saturday, Mr. Leighton,” she says as she is seductively smiling up at me. She quickly turns around and begins walking toward the lobby doors.
I put my phone in my pocket and shake the thoughts of Casey out of my head. This is crazy. I can’t think of her like that. She’s my goddamn intern.

Review

Cecilla will do anything to get more information on her father's murder.  She's determined to get an internship at Leighton Enterprises using her college experience, knowledge, and drive to apply for an internship.  Only there's one problem...  That college student is her sister Casey West and well, Cecilla West isn't even a college student.  She's a high school senior.

She walks into her interview with determination, determination to get all the information she can.  What she didn't bank on was meeting Bentley Leighton, soon-to-be CEO of Leighton Enterprises.  Cecilla gets the internship but finding the information she's looking for will only be half the battle.  Bentley is handsome, driven, and he wants Cecilla.  He makes that fact known, but what will happen happen their fireworks explode?  Can Cecilla handle everything that's about to come her way?

I loved Cecilla.  She's smart, driven, and goes after what she wants.  She was funny, likeable, and went after what she wanted and will stop at nothing to get it.  Bentley is used to women coming in and out of his bed, well but that was before he became the soon-to-be CEO.  Now his nights of partying, drinking, and women are gone and in its place is a pile of paperwork and responsibility.  They flirt, they stare, and they are attracted to one another and when they can't resist one another any further, it explodes.  I cannot wait to see where this story goes because once the flirting ended and they took it to the next level it was one of the hottest moments I've ever read.  Fast past, exciting, and melt your panties hot, The Intern is quickly on its way to becoming the next new hot series.  Love it and cannot wait for more, 5 stars.

Blog Tour - A Summer Romance by Tracey Smith - Review

Maggie had her entire life planned out since the age of twelve, looks like the joke was on her. As all of her carefully laid plans begin to fall apart she jumps at the opportunity to get away and spend a carefree summer down south.
When she arrives at Devereux Manor it all seems too good to be true. The home is beautiful, the town is inviting, and the sexy gardener promises to make this a summer she won’t soon forget.
However the more she learns about the elusive Ms. Devereaux she begins to realize that the conveniently placed ad in front of her dorm room may not have been the happy coincidence that it once seemed. Maggie isn’t the only one who Ms. Devereaux has lured to the plantation, and Ms. Devereaux isn’t the only one with secrets to hide.

I grew up in Southern California, but as a teenager moved with my family to a small town in Arkansas. It was there that I met my husband, who had also recently moved to the state. Fate brought us both to that same small town and into each other’s lives and it is where we remain today raising our two children and living out our happily ever after. As you can probably tell I’m a hopeless romantic.
I began my writing career in 2009 with the publication of my first novel Love’s Fate, which quickly grew into a romantic series. Since that first day that I sat down to write I haven’t been able to stop. Writing is my passion and has become a necessary part of my life. Sometimes there are stories that just beg to be told.

Review

First, before you pick this book up I must reiterate the fact that this IS NOT a BDSM novel.

Okay, now that we are clear on that, I can continue.  Are you a fan of Bella Jewel?  Then you will LOVE this novel.  Even if you are not, you will love this one.  While this one is so different from her other books, this I have to say is my favorite one out of all of her work so far.

This book starts right up and pulls you in right from the beginning.  There is no background on how this girl got to where she is, all she knows is that she can't remember who she is or how she got to where she is.  She's scared, there are others around with her, and she's been taken.  That's all there is for her to know right now.  It becomes apparent pretty quickly that she is not the only girl taken, there aren't a couple of them, there are thirteen total.  She is number thirteen.  They are kept in a room together, told to keep quiet and cooperate, but some of the girls can't handle it.  One in particular looses it and doesn't make it out of the room.

When they finally make it out of the room, they are told that if they obey they will be rewarded, if they do not, they will be punished.  They are put into a line up where their "master" will split them up into groups.  They are all split up and given different tasks that must be completed each day.  If they complete them they are rewarded, if not, they get punished.  There is no where to escape, there is no where to hide, there are cameras everywhere.  Number thirteen learns to quickly comply and discovers her group is different from the rest, they will be serving the master directly.  Each visits him, each one he attempts to build trust with, no one has seen his face or what he looks like.  He keeps himself hidden in the darkness and with it anything about himself.  Doesn't take long for her to start questioning everything.  How she ended up here, why she was taken, what exactly this man wants with them.

She struggles to find out something, anything about herself, can she figure it out before it's too late?  Can she discover what the master wants and why he is hiding?

At first when I heard about this book, I thought immediately it was a BDSM novel.  I figured he had thirteen girls tied up that he tortured and raped on a daily basis.  I was wrong and discovered rather quickly that this was a book well worth reading again.  I enjoyed the journey of Number Thirteen, it was easy to connect with her and feel her every emotion.  It was one heck of a journey to discover who she was and why she was taken.  Believe me, you'll never guess it because in a million years I never thought the book would take the route that it did.  It was wonderful and a well thought out story with great characters and an incredible plot.  Best part?  HEA!  So hard to find these days.  I give it 5 amazing stars!!!
