Synopsis

Love is ugly and secrets will destroy you.
KAT I don’t beg. I don’t cry. And I don’t give second chances. Ream, the lead guitarist from the band Tear Asunder, deserves a gold medal for best dick move ever when he ran the moment he discovered my secret after two days of hot sex. Then he brings some chick to my coming home party from the hospital—after being shot. I hate him. Until … Ream’s six foot two frame unfolds out of the car after being gone on tour for eight months. I stared, unable to help myself. And in my defense, any girl would stare. It would almost be rude not to because Ream was the type of guy who stood out. Not because he had pink hair or shouted or was obnoxious. No, it was because he was the complete opposite. Subtle and dangerously quiet. If he spoke, you’d better hope he liked you because otherwise you’d be falling at his feet begging for mercy. Except me … I don’t beg—ever. But when our eyes locked, it was Ream’s confident cold indifference that had my nerves shooting off like jet sprinklers. Then… Ream told me he didn’t need a second chance because he was still working on his first. REAM Sex is ugly. It’s using someone for your own narcissistic pleasure. I did it and I hated it—until her. She was unfuckinexpected. Then I had to wreck our beginning with my screwed up past. I don’t deserve her, but I’m selfish and I’m taking her anyway. This is who I am and it’s too late to change me.

REVIEW:

For lovers of 'With You' and 'Torn From You' comes 'Overwhelmed by You' the next book in the Tear Asunder series. While each book can be read alone, I recommend reading 'With You' and 'Torn From You' prior to reading 'Overwhelmed by You'.

This story is Ream and Kat's story. We first met Ream and Kat in Torn From You, book 1 in the Tear Asunder series. Ream is a cold and dark man who uses women as then throws them away when he's done. He's dark, he's fierce, and Kat is drawn to him. Kat hasn't had it easy growing up, her parents died in a car accident leaving her and her older brother, Matt without parents. Left to fend for themselves and Matt to raise his younger sister, that day changed Kat forever and there would be other moments growing up that would change who she is today forever.

Ream also has a dark past, one that no one knows about, one that keeps him from allowing women to get close to him. That is everyone, but Kat. Kat is kind, caring, loyal, and can hold her own so when they become friends while staying together on the farm, it's only a matter of time before Ream and Kat land in bed together. Their affair is short, it's explosive, and has them wanting to explore more of what they have. That is until Ream discovers Kat's drugs when they fall out of her purse. Losing his sister Haven to drugs is something that Ream has never gotten over. With no father and a mother that is pretty much dead to him, Haven was his only family. That was until she died at the age of sixteen from a drug overdose. Ream is quick to push Kat away, throwing not only their relationship away but their friendship as well. It will be nearly three years later when they see each other again.

Returning from tour for eight months Ream is not the same man that left Kat once before. He's determined to have her back after he thought long and hard about why she said she has the drug on her at all times and how much she needs it. Throwing caution to the wind, Ream is determined to get Kat back even if that means stepping in front of her boyfriend Lance to do it. Kat hasn't been the same since Ream left her and she's determined never to let him back into her life, no second chances. But Ream will do anything to get Kat back even if he has to wear her down. When Kat is attacked, he will do everything in his power to protect the woman that he cares for.

But with Kat's dependency on drugs and a secret she's kept guarded for so many years and a past that Ream does not want to face, can these two make it to their happy ending or will everything fall apart once more.

When I first started this book, I wasn't sure what was going to happen. I thought that maybe it would be a case of get together, fight, break up, get back together, the end. But this story was so much more complex than that. I even can go as far as to say that this book went further than Torn From You did. Don't get me wrong, I love Logan and Emily, but Ream and Kat took their relationship and the secrets that they have to a whole new level. The things that Kat went through are something I can relate to because I have a friend who is going through the same thing. Kat is strong and doesn't let anything get her down, and for that she makes an excellent heroine in this story. She stands by Ream through everything and with the things that go on, she makes one heck of a character. This book is full of love, heartache, lies, deception, and secrets and makes for one heck of a roller coaster ride and will leave you highly anticipating the release of the next book which is Crisis's story. 5 amazing stars for this one and not a book you want to miss.
