My review: Blown by Braxton Cole

Title: Blown
Author: Braxton Cole
Genre: Erotica
Veronica "Roni" Guard is an undercover cop trying to bust a drug ring. Unfortunately, she runs into her ex-boyfriend, Mateo Vargas, at an illegal street race in the California desert. He just happens to be a pretty big criminal himself. That's why they split originally. No matter how much chemistry they have between them, a cop and a gangster are not a good match. Roni Convinces Mateo to help her with her case, his reluctance derailed by the one thing that always worked between them--sex. Yes, he'll help her. But on one condition. In his world, she belongs to him, and him only.

Will Mateo's possessiveness unravel Roni's case? Or, worse, blow her cover? And if they get out of this alive, is there a future for them together?

Blown contains mature adult themes, including explicit sex scenes. Not intended for an audience under 18 years of age.

The first thing that drew me to this book was the cover.  I absolutely LOVE the cover on this book and just knew it would be a book I would love to read.  It's right up my alley especially since more than anything I LOVE to read Erotica, especially when the Erotica is done the right way.  I love reads that are full of passion and are very steamy and Braxton does not disappoint.  This is my first read by Braxton Cole, but will not be my last and have two more books already lined up.  I also really liked the fact that the book just got right up into the story and was short enough for me to enjoy in one afternoon which is refreshing after reading some books that are so long they just seem to drag on forever and have me praying for the end to come.  (Obviously not the case with all full length novels I read)

In this story you meet Roni and Mateo.  Roni is an undercover cop out trying to bust a drug ring when she runs into the one person she never thought she'd see again at an illegal street race her ex-boyfriend Mateo.  He is the one person who knows her secret and could blow her cover.  Mateo and Roni have always had chemistry but when Mateo discovered she was a cop they had no choice but to part ways since he's a gangster and she's a cop.  That right there pulled me right in.  From the start you can tell there relationship was a passionate one since the second he has her alone in the trailer they are already attacking one another.  It's pretty clear though that for Mateo, Roni means more to him than an easy lay and he wants so much more but knows that she can't give it to him.  So he does the one thing that he should never do, agree to help Roni out in busting the bad guy even though in the end he knows that they will have to part ways.  I loved Mateo he would do anything for Roni to protect her even risk getting himself killed all to protect her.  He was all dominant alpha male but instead of his possessiveness being scary or annoying it was sexy as hell!

I loved this story and cannot wait to read more of Braxton's work.  This story was well done, well written, and was short, sweet, steamy, and passionate.  I give this one 5 stars!

Braxton Cole lives in the Pacific Northwest where she spends most of her time holed up in her office writing stories. When she's not writing, she can be found riding her bike, hiking the fabulous local trails, chasing her kids, or wishing that her thumb was a little more green. She has a bad habit of killing everything she tries to grow, but hasn't given up hopes of one day being a successful urban farmer.
