“Never stay, Lacey. Promise me. Promise right now, that whenever things go bad in life, you will run. Never, ever stay.”
Lacey learned in life one thing from her mother and that is when things go bad, to run. Lacey's mother was a victim of her father's abuse until finally one day she shot him to death before turning the gun on herself, leaving Lacey without her parents. Lacey didn't stay long, her mother must have planned this out because the next thing she knows, Lacey has money left behind from their deaths. She doesn't want to use the money, but she does move around not staying too long in one place for too long.
It's after her last boyfriend was addicted to drugs and hit her that she left Florida to run to Salt Rock, Alabama. It's here she reconnects with her friend Jenn. Jenn's boyfriend, Slash is a member of the Mayhem MC in Salt Rock and it's here that she meets his brother Roam. From the start, Roam has been drawn to Lacey, making her his the first night they meet. But their first encounter was a menage with a club whore named Christa. Thinking nothing will come of their relationship, Lacey settles into her new life and even finds a job at a bar. But Roam isn't ready to let her go just yet and even though he doesn't want to make promises he can't keep, he wants to see where a relationship with Lacey will go.
But there is someone out there that doesn't want Lacey around. Someone breaks into the bar where she works and even vandalizes the bar during business hours forcing Lacey to move in with Roam and remain under his and the club's protection. As life goes on, Lacey and Roam go closer to one another, but can they find their happily ever after or will unforeseen events cause Lacey to run away from the man she has come to love and adore?
I love it when I find a new MC novel. I pretty much own most of the new ones that are out there, and whenever I get time I enjoy reading them so when I got the chance to read Fighting to Stay I jumped right on it. Lacey is used to running away to avoid getting hurt in life and just when I think that she's going to stay with Roam forever, her feelings for him will be put to the test. Roam was sexy and fierce always showing Lacey how he felt even when he couldn't express it with words. While this novel was enjoyable and over before I knew it, my one issue is that it seemed a little rushed. Six years was told in less than 200 pages. I just wish it would've been a little longer. But even with that being said I still enjoyed this novel and look forward to seeing if Kasey will write anymore books like this in the future, 4 stars.
