Review: The Dumont Diaries by Alessandra Torre

Candace Tapers’ life finally takes an upward swing when Nathan Dumont, shipping heir and notorious playboy, sweeps her away to a lifestyle of wealth and privilege. But that life comes with strings, and she is soon pulled in directions she never expected, discovering secrets and ulterior motives in the man who shares her bed.

I have been a fan of Alessandra Torre since her first novel, Blindfolded Innocence. If there's one thing she's great at it's writing intriguing love stories with great sexual chemistry and connections between her characters. This case was no different. Candace Tapers does what she needs to do to get by. She works as a stripper and does what she can to survive the hand she's been dealt in life.

That is until she meets Nathan Dumont. Right away Nathan requests to see her and offers her the one thing she needs in life money and a husband. She thinks she's find a way for herself, but what she gets instead is a contract for marriage, a wife to hold hands with in public for a photo op and nothing more. He's cold, calculated, and only comes to her when he needs her. She's given a set of rules she must follow, certain things she can and cannot do, leaving her feeling trapped in her new life. She can tell he's hiding something and his feelings, but she can't figure out what has happened to him in his life.

Her only comfort is found in Drew. But while Drew has captured her soul but Nathan dominates her body. Can she decide which is more worthwhile in the end? What happens when she discovers the secrets Nathan is hiding and what role Drew plays in it all? Told in four parts - To Have, To Hold, Till Death, Do Us Part - this book was another home run out of the park for Alessandra. Full of love, longing, and finding her heart, The Dumont Diaries was brilliant. I give it 5 stars and cannot wait to see more of her work in the future.
