What happens when the one person you never expected suddenly happens to be the one you’ll fight the hardest to keep?

Colton stole my heart. He wasn't supposed to, and I sure as hell didn't want him to, but he crashed into my life, ignited feelings within me that I thought had died forever, and fueled a passion that I never knew could exist.

Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet and into my life. Now I don't think I'll ever be the same. She's seen glimpses of the darkness within me, and yet she's still here. Still fighting for me. She is without a doubt the saint, and I am most definitely the sinner.

How is it the one thing neither of us wanted—neither of us anticipated that fateful night—has us fighting so hard to keep?

He steals my breath, stops my heart, and brings me back to life again all in a split second of time. But how can I love a man who won't let me in? Who continually pushes me away to prevent me from seeing the damaged secrets in his past? My heart has fallen, but patience and forgiveness can only go so far.

How can I desire a woman who unnerves me, defies me, and forces me to see that in the deep, black abyss of my soul there's someone worthy of her love? A place and person I swore I'd never be again. Her selfless heart and sexy body deserve so much more than I'll ever be capable of giving her. I know I can't be what she needs, so why can't I just let her go?

We are driven by need and fueled with desire, but is that enough for us to crash into love?

***WARNING - If you have not read Driven, please go back and read it prior to reading this review***

Move over Christian and Gideon you now have another man in your midst, one that will not easily be forgotten.  He’s easy to love, easy to hate, but not easily forgotten.

In Driven, Colton and Rylee are driven by their need for one another.  In Fueled they are fueled by their desire for one another, but will it be enough in the end?  Or will they rip one another apart?

I am still trying to wrap my head around this story, it’s that emotional.  Instead of diving into the story and giving too much away that would spoil the story I decided to do this review a little bit differently.  While I will reference parts of the story, I will not really follow too much of the story line, you’ll just have to read the series to find out for yourself.  I will say this though, this book has quickly climbed to the top of my top ten favorite books of all time, it had that much of an effect on me.

From the very beginning of this story in the prologue I could already tell this would be a story that would rip my heart out, it’s that powerful.  It starts off right where Driven left off, but in this book unlike in Driven, some of the chapters and the prologue are told in Colton’s point of view which gives you an insight into how he’s feeling and the things that he has gone through in the past.  After reading the prologue it becomes apparent pretty why he acts the way he does, using pleasure to bury the pain he feels inside and in his heart.  It’s so powerful it has left him without the ability to love others, to do all he can to hurt others and push them away.  He’s not used to women like Rylee, a woman who will do anything to fight for him, anything to keep him and the growing attachment she has to him.

Rylee is the first person to have Colton have feelings for a woman outside of his normal “arrangement” category he uses for women.  He loves them and leaves them, leaving in his wake women that will do anything to have him back in their bed even for a short time.  He leaves that much of an impression, he’s that difficult to forget.  But while these women chase after the same man, Colton is chasing after Rylee.  The one women that causes him to feel like he can have more out of life, that he’s worth saving, that he’s just worth it.

Rylee understands his pain and inner turmoil, she sees it everyday in the children at The House.  She can tell that whatever happened to Colton had that much of an effect on him that even more than twenty years later, she can still see the lost little boy within him that struggles to deal with his past.

Rylee begins to feel again after two years of feeling nothing following the death of Max, he forces her to see that she’s worth something.  Colton feels too much and tries with all his might to push her away, what ensues is a tug of war of emotions, fear, hurt, pain, and passion that will leave you reeling in the end and wondering if passion and desire are enough for these two at the end of the day.

This book was one of the most unforgettable stories I have ever read.  Colton has quickly moved to the top of my list surpassing Christian, Gideon, and the likes of the other book boyfriends out there with his charm, grace, bad boy ways, and love for race cars.  He likes his cars fast and his women willing, but beneath the surface he’s so much more.  I laughed, I cried, and hurt for not only Rylee and Colton but for the children in this story.  It was an emotional journey one that I will not soon forget and look forward to reading the conclusion of their story.

5 stars for a brilliant, pulls at your heartstrings story filled with passion, desire, hurt, pain, and longing.   K. Bromberg is utterly brilliant and gives you an emotional journey that leaves you wanting more of their story.

K. Bromberg remains in Southern California with her husband and their three young children. When not writing or working her day job, she can be found playing ninjas or power rangers with her son, fixing the hair of her oldest daughter’s American girl doll, doing ‘arts and crapts’ with her youngest daughter, or listening to any or all of them fight/whine/giggle at once.  When she needs a break from the daily chaos, you can almost always find her with Kindle in hand, devouring the pages of a good book, or mentally outlining her next set of characters.

Fueled is K. Bromberg’s second published novel and is the highly anticipated second book of “The Driven Trilogy.” Driven was her well-received debut novel and Book #1 of the series.
