Blog Tour: Losing Control by Nina Croft - Review

He’s the only man she didn’t see coming…

Four years after escaping her abusive ex-husband, Kim finally believes she’s in control of her life and her emotions and she’s determined to never risk either again with a man. She has a great home, a job as a security specialist which she loves, and Jake for a best friend. But things are a tad lonely in the sex department, so she decides to embark on a no-strings-affair with one of her hot co-workers. And who better to help her remember how to lure a man than her best friend?

Jake has wanted Kim from the moment he first saw her, but four years ago, she was too young and too damaged. So he kept her close and he kept her safe, offering her a job in his security company and the training to feel safe again, and he bided his time. But now, after the long wait, if she imagines he’s going to stand by while she seduces some other guy… Never going to happen.

Four years ago Kim was in a bad place.  She was married to an abusive man and struggled to find her way out.  She finally did and four years later feels like she's starting to gain control of her life.  Michael was horrible to her and physically abused her so when Jake Knight came into her life, she finally found the courage and the help to leave Michael once and for all.

Jake Knight is the owner of a security company.  Four years ago when he met Kim he did everything he could to help her leave her husband Michael after he discovered what he had been doing to her.  Jake has been in love with Kim since the first time he met her.  But Kim was in a bad place and didn't want anyone to take advantage of her, so he made a rule at work.  No one was to go near Kim and when she's out in public at a bar, all the men that work for him must protect her.  Everyone knows how Jake feels about Kim, that is everyone but Kim.

Kim hasn't been with a man since she left Michael four years ago.  She has an itch that needs to be scratched and she has her sites set on the new guy at work, Steve, who hasn't been avoiding her like a plague.  All the other men where she works won't come near her and run the other direction. When Jake sees how close Kim is becoming to Steve he steps in and reminds Steve that he is to stay away from her.  Finally having enough, Kim confronts Jake about why all the men stay away from her and instead finds herself lying across his desk with him on top of her.

Kim wants no strings attached sex, Jake wants the woman he's in love with.  Both want different things, but they both are itching to have one another again.

I loved this story.  It was a joy to watch Kim try to avoid Jake like a plague and Jake try to chase after her.  Both of them wanted the same thing in some ways, to be with one another, just not for the same reasons or so they thought.  This book had me glued to the couch all afternoon, yelling at everyone to leave me alone because I just couldn't get enough of this book.  I love reading Brazen books, so when I was asked to read this book for the tour I was very excited to pick it up and this book did not disappoint!  This book was an easy 5 stars!

Nina Croft grew up in the north of England. After training as an accountant, she spent four years working as a volunteer in Zambia which left her with a love of the sun and a dislike of 9-5 work. She then spent a number of years mixing travel (whenever possible) with work (whenever necessary) but has now settled down to a life of writing and picking almonds on a remote farm in the mountains of southern Spain.
Nina's writing mixes romance with elements of the paranormal and science fiction.
