Blue Dahlia is the first book in the second trilogy of Vivian Winslow's Gilded Flower series, featuring Lily Baron's free-spirited twin sister, Dahlia.

New York socialite Dahlia Baron is falling for her Latin lover, Rodrigo Cruz, the scion of the Mama Linda Latin foods empire, and hopes to take the relationship to the next level. But there's is a dark secret that she must deal with first in order to truly give her heart to him. When Dahlia visits the man from her past, will the undercurrents of her emotions let her go to Rodrigo or will they pull her back to the one person who stands between them?

Mature readers only. 18+

Dahlia has found herself the perfect man in Rodrigo.  She's looking forward to moving to Miami with him and starting a life together.  There's just one thing she needs to do before she can consider moving to Miami to be with Rodrigo.  So she leaves New York and heads back to Long Beach, California seven years after she left.
What lose end does she need to tie up?  The fact that she's still married to Shane.  Seven years ago, Dahlia's entire world fell apart and she ran for the hills and never looked back.  She lost not only Shane but their baby girl and she never recovered from it.

But being back in California, Dahlia starts to remember why she fell in love with the ocean and why she fell in love with Shane.  It's not long before they start to reconnect and she starts to question to last seven years of her life.  Question is, can she drop everything that she's discovered to return to a past that might tear her apart once again.

While I enjoyed the Dahlia's story, I was a bit lost because I never read Lily's story.  For some reason, I think there was something in those books that lead up to Dahlia's story, but I wouldn't know because I never read them.  The story was fast paced and enjoyable I just felt like I was missing something and for that I have to downgrade my review from a 5 to a 4.  I look forward to the rest of the stories in this series but I still feel like I missed a significant part of this story.

Vivian Winslow was born and raised in Southern California. Before becoming a writer, she made a career out of moving around the world every couple of years thanks to her husband’s job. She currently lives in New York City with her husband and two elementary school age children, and is grateful to finally have a place to call home for more than two years. New York is the perfect city to indulge her love of shopping, the arts and especially food.

If she’s not at home writing or running around the city with her kids, you’ll most likely find her indulging in pizza on the Lower East Side or having a cocktail at her favorite bar in Alphabet City. That said, she’s still a California girl at heart and would gladly trade in her heels for a pair of flip-flops to catch a sunset on the beach. .
