Escaping the evil man of her past…

With a tattoo gun, Shay Kelly tries to color a better future for herself and her son. When her abusive ex is paroled this proves to be a difficult task. All her clients used to be his and he’s taking them back. But that’s not the only thing he wants.

Screaming his way to the top…

No one can change the visions of Morgan Desario’s past, or what he saw the night his dad died. Marijuana helps the pain his singing can’t numb. When his heavy metal band gets signed, he’s flying high. But fame and fortune do nothing to take away the humiliation he faces every time he gets stuck in a memory.

When their morals slip and their sins collide…

They share the same lifestyle, but couldn't be more different. She's anti-drug and he's all for smoking pot. A night of passion bonds them together, but their connection is strained when their pasts are unleashed. On tour, Morgan’s sins flourish. At home, Shay's morals bend. A sharp line separates what's right and wrong that both are afraid to cross.

Will they be cut walking the Razor’s Edge?

REVIEW

Shay isn't looking for love, or any man of any sort for that matter.  Her ex-boyfriend, Gary is in prison for drug related charges.  What he really should be in jail for is beating on Shay.  For the past fifteen years, Gary is all Shay has known and has a son that she will do anything to protect.  Ben is the light in her life, the one person she will do anything for, but her dreams of opening up her own tattoo shop is on the verge of failure.  Why?  Because all the patrons want Gary and not her, her biggest fear is when Gary gets out and takes all the clients with him.

Morgan isn't looking for love, he's content with girls who give him what he wants and leave.  He doesn't expect to find Shay standing on a platform in the audience when he's on stage.  He has to get closer, but he holds himself back after his first night meeting her.  The perfect opportunity for him is when the band needs a new member.  That member comes in the form of Tryst, Shay's cousin.  Right away, Ben takes a liking to Morgan and latches on.  The last thing Shay needs is a man who will walk out and leave Ben broken.  He already has one father that's failed him, he doesn't need another.

As they grow closer, Shay fights her attraction to Morgan at every turn telling herself and Morgan that it's just fun.  It's always just fun right?  That is until you find out the condom broke and you're pregnant with a baby you can't afford.  Morgan convinces Shay that they can co-parent and give their baby two loving parents, issue is Shay is attracted to him and Morgan is attracted to her.  But when Shay's past comes back with a vengeance and Morgan becomes a rising star and must face his own demons of his past, can their new relationship survive it?

I loved the relationship between Shay and Bebe. That was the highlight of this book for me.  Add to that her cousin Tryst and it was a recipe for success on that front which makes me want to read their book.  But with that being said, there were parts of this book that dragged on and parts of it that went a little too quickly.  This book was long.  A lot longer than my taste, then again, it could've been that I just felt some of the scenes were a little too long.  I would've loved to have seen more tattooing since that is what attracted me to this story in the first place and a little more when Gary comes back into the picture.  Don't get me wrong, I hated Gary but he played an important role in the way that Shay is now.  It would've been nice to have a little bit more to connect with on that end.  The relationship between Shay and Morgan was rocky at best.  They didn't really do a whole lot of 'let's get to know one another' and I had a major issue with that.  There was also a mention of Gary's affiliation with an MC, but that's really all it was -a mention.  I also would've loved to have seen more of when Morgan was on tour, they literally left and then right after that it was three months later.  Apart of the story should've been a little bit more about what happened in those three months that they were gone.  Overall, it was a good story, but for me it failed to meet that mark that would've made this book really great for me.  For that reason, I give it 4 stars.

AUTHOR BIO

Always a fan of books, Raquel began reading at the age of six. Yes, she started early. It fueled her imagination and she began writing her own stories at the age of ten. Then her writing took a back seat when she discovered drama class in high school.

Becoming an actor was what she wanted to do with her life, but she changed her mind. "I felt like I needed to do something more meaningful and planned on becoming a nurse's assistant." She went to college for her CNA, but again, not the career choice for her.

When she turned twenty she met her husband, and shortly after, their daughter came. All the while she had these voices in her head, these characters begging her to tell their stories. "I put the mute button on them until I became pregnant with my son, now I can't get them to shut up." She wrote five unpublished novels before her son turned three. She hopes that her stories will be inspirational for people going through the same problems as her characters.

Instead of going the traditional route, sending out querys and receiving rejection letters, she decided to take on the world of indie publishing. She writes contemporary and paranormal romances and hopes to one day step outside her genre and write a horror novel.
She resides just outside of Detroit, Michigan with her husband, two children, two cats and a dog. Summer days are spent at the race track and when night time falls, her secret worlds come alive.
