Blog Tour: Love's Suicide by Jennifer Foor - Review

Title: Love Suicide
Author: Jennifer Foor

Synopsis:

My heart belonged to Branch and Brooks Valentine since we were children, when we were all too naïve to know what that even meant. We didn’t understand that when we became adults, love would change us. I had to make a choice and when I did, it ripped our bond apart. Brooks left town, and he took half of my heart with him. It was difficult, but I coped and planned my future with Branch. I thought I’d made the right decision. I loved him and I always had.

Brooks showed up to be our best man the night before our nuptials. After drinks and too much reminiscing, I ended up in bed with the wrong brother. To avoid the humiliation and the fact that I’d ruined all of our lives, I left Branch and the only family I’d ever known.

That’s where my story should have ended.

Two years, one beautiful little girl and an abusive marriage later, I was standing there staring at the man that would always hold my heart.

The only question was…

Would I give it to him

I’m Katy Michaels and this is my story.

Review:

Ever since she was a child, Katy has loved the Valentine twins, Branch and Brooks.  The three did everything together, that all changed with an experiment in which she kissed both brothers and fell for Brooks.  But tragedy struck Katy's life shortly after at the age of twelve when both her parents died on 9/11.  Devastated, she moves in with the Valentine family after they are named her guardians by her parents.

As they got older, love changed everything.  After thinking for so long that Brooks didn't want her, Katy fell for Branch.  It was still so hard for Katy to be around Brooks because not only did she love him, but he would bring women around like a revolving door, breaking Katy's heart slowly.  Katy was determined not to let it show, especially after Brooks made it clear that he didn't want her and Branch fed her the same lines, that Brooks didn't want her.

It's not until a few years later when Brooks returns for their wedding that things change for Katy.  Brooks ran away to join the army and when he left he took half of Katy's heart with him.  She's supposed to be marrying Branch, but Katy can't seem to get over the feelings that she still harbors for Brooks.  One fight the night before their wedding will change everything in which Branch says mean and nasty things to her.  One decision will change Katy's life forever, the night she ends up in bed with Brooks.  Katy doesn't want to marry Branch, she loves Brooks, but when it's discovered the next morning that she's been with Brooks, Katy does the only thing she thinks she can, she runs away.

Katy is determined to never be seen or heard from by the Valentine family ever again.  She moves to a small town and starts a new life.  That all changes for her when she discovers she's pregnant with Brooks' baby.  This is the part where you expect Katy to tell Brooks and they love happily ever after right?  Well, you'd be wrong.  Hurt, lonely, and scared Katy finds comfort in her new friends Sarah, Dave, and their friend Bobby.  Bobby becomes the friend she's been looking for and they end up married.  But the problem's continue from here, because Katy can't let go of her love for Brooks and Bobby knows this.  Two years in an abusive marriage and still in love with Brooks, he will return to reclaim what is his.  The problem is can Brooks and Katy find their happily ever after, after so many years of heartbreak?

I was very surprised by this story.  When I first received my ARC I almost had a heart attack when I saw the amount of pages, but being a huge fan of Jennifer's I knew this would be a book I wouldn't want to miss.  In a lot of ways it was different from the Mitchell Family series, and I wasn't sure how I felt about that until the story really got going and I fell in love with Katy and Brooks.  No matter how many things got Katy down in life, she still held on and believed in her love for Brooks, same for him.  This book made me smile, made me cry, and made me want to kill Bobby all in the span of the hours I read this book.  You're quickly pulled into the story right from the beginning and captivated right until the very end.  I now understand why the book was so long and the best part of this story???  It's a standalone!!!  This isn't a book you are going to want to miss, I give it 5 amazing stars and cannot wait to read more of Jennifer's work in the future!!!
