Blog Tour: Beautiful Broken Mess by Kimberly Lauren - Review & Giveaway

Beautiful Broken Mess Blog Tour Banner

Jace Riley’s close connection with his identical twin brother, Jaxon, is put to the test when he tries to choose between keeping his promises and following his heart. Is this girl that still haunts his dreams, even after four years, really worth it? Jace can’t help but wonder if he made a huge mistake all that time ago when he let her walk into someone else’s arms, especially since that someone was his twin.

Audrey Mills often wonders at what point she should throw her hands up in defeat and allow all of the horrible circumstances of her life to overtake her. Despite the demons she has faced, however, something inside her won’t give in. When she leaves her small town in Texas to attend college in California, Audrey runs into the one guy who could make her or break her. But is the past they share too painful for them to overcome?

This is the second book in the broken series. While each book can stand on its own, it's recommended you read Beautiful Broken Rules before Beautiful Broken Mess.

New Adult/Adult Contemporary Romance - recommended for ages 18 and up.

I was a huge fan of Beautiful Broken Rules, Kimberly has this ability to pull you into her book and keep you captivated until the very end.  Everything I read in Beautiful Broken Rules was blown out of the water in Beautiful Broken Mess.  While you do not need to read Em and Jaxon's story to read Jace and Audrey's story, I highly recommend it because it explains so many things at the beginning of their book.

Audrey Mills from the very beginning of her life hasn't had it easy.  Born to a drug addict mother and an alcoholic father, Audrey was an unwanted pregnancy from the very beginning.  Why would her parents keep her if they didn't want her?  But of course for that welfare check they could get for her.  Her entire life she's learned what alcohol can do to a person and what kind of a person she doesn't want to grow up to be.  She's learned to rely only on herself and no one else, not allowing anyone to get close to her.

That all changes the day she's on the way home from work one day with a bag of groceries and literally runs right smack into Jace.  Their attraction is instantaneous, they connection starts right from the start ending their first meeting in an unbelievable kiss and the promise that Audrey will attend a party that night at his friend Cole's house. While Audrey is from the other side of town, she still excited at the prospect of meeting up with Jace again.

Running late to the party, Jace ends up finding Audrey with Jaxon and leaves brokenhearted.  Unknown to Audrey Jaxon and Jace are twins, the only difference is in their voices.  Audrey knows something is off, but can't figure it out until the next day when she finds out the truth and Jace tells her they cannot be together.

It's been years since they've seen one another.  Their last meeting ended with neither brother talking to her when she shows up at their college dorm room in Los Angeles, but now she's attending their college with her best friend Lane who got them both accepted.  Audrey finally leaves behind her horrible life in Texas to start over and after going to San Diego lands on the same campus as the Jace and Jaxon.  Three people entwined in one past, the twins unaware of Audrey's reality back then and how bad her life has been.  Both unaware that this entire time she's had feelings for Jace.  What happens when they find out the truth?  Can Audrey finally have what she's wanted all these years or will the mess that was her life all those years ago destroy her chances even before her chance starts?

I loved Audrey.  I must admit at the beginning of this book, I hated her.  Based on her appearance in Beautiful Broken Rules, I was expecting an entirely different person than what she really was.  Appearances can be deceiving, and in this case what you think you know about Audrey is completely different from the true reality of her life and her personality.  By 20 percent my feelings toward her changed completely.  Em excepted her into their family so easily soon followed by Quinn, but the boys are a more difficult situation.  With Lane now in the picture things start to get complicated by Jace's jealousy, not to mention he's hot and totally protective of his girl Audrey.  Jace and Jaxon are so completely different from each other, it was interesting to learn the differences between these two twins and how Jace changes so much during this book.  I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the return of these characters and their continued story and cannot wait for Lane's story, I know this one will be another hit because let's face it Kimberly Lauren is a rock star author who makes you smile, laugh, and cry during her book as her characters continue their journey through college and life.  5 amazing stars!

I'm a wanderer, an adventurer, a traveler. I want to see it all. I haven't been everywhere but it's on my list. "She travels the world & home is always in her heart." Lately if I'm not traveling or chasing a toddler, I'm writing. Which is weird because I hated writing in college. Oh wait, that's because that was boring. Who really wants to sit there and cite all your sources into APA format? Not this girl. Writing for yourself is enjoyable and cathartic. Please try it. Then tell me about because I love indie authors. When I was 19, I packed up and followed my high school sweetheart from Texas to California. We had a blast living it up in San Diego. Four years later we made a crazy decision and packed up again and moved to Germany. What? Yep, you read that right. Guess what? Best decision ever! We OWNED Europe. For three years we saw as much as we possibly could. We lived an hour outside of France, a couple from Switzerland and Italy. Most amazing time of my life. Please go out there and see the world, you won't regret it. After Europe we moved back to California, and for now we're just debating our next adventure. I earned a degree in Child Development. And now I write novels. Makes perfect sense! I write because I walk around all day with these stories in my head. It's nice to be able to get them out of my head in an organized fashion. I hope that someone out there enjoys them, because I have enjoyed so many others'.
