A Little Too Far (A Little Too Far, #1)
Publisher: HarperCollins
Release Date: September 17th, 2013 (eBook), October 1st, 2013 (Print)

Synopsis:

Have you ever gone just a little too far?

Lexie Banks has.

Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. In her defense, she was on the rebound, and it’s more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he’s been her best friend and confidant for the better part of the last few years … and is so off limits. It’s a good thing she’s leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome.

But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can’t seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt … and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbles out of the confessional and right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy-on-the-eyes deacon … only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro’s signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn’t know what to think. She’s torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn’t want and the man she can’t have. And she isn’t sure how she can live with herself either way.

My Review:

Lexie Banks recently broke up with her boyfriend of three and a half years, Rick after she finally checked his text messages during Christmas break confirming the rumors were true that Rick has been cheating on her during college.  Lexie is trying to move forward from it, obtaining the opportunity to study one year abroad in Rome.  Two days before she leaves for Rome, she runs into Rick during lunch where he works with her two friends Katie and Sam.  Still left reeling from his betrayal and feelings she still has from him, she turns to the one person that has been the constant in her life for years, her stepbrother Trent.  Trent has always been there for Lexie, to hold her when she cries, sing to her when she’s sad, play Warcraft with her, do everything a brother would.  But Lexie has been running from her true feelings for Trent for years, their secret?  They were each other’s first kiss.  Tired of fighting the feelings for one another, the unthinkable happens and they have mind blowing sex, sex that in one moment makes her feel more than she did her entire relationship with Rick.

One moment changes her entire life, makes her question everything she’s ever known.  Lucky for her she’s leaving for Rome and Trent is returning to college for wrestling.  She thinks that time and space will lessen her feelings toward Trent, but some things are easier said than done.  She’s able to put him out her mind for a while, going to the church to confess her sins and it’s here that she meets Reverend Alessandro Moretti who shows her the beauty of art in Rome, and how to live past her fear of heights.  She feels comfortable around Alessandro, even to the point that she starts to have feelings for him.  She knows he’s taken a vow of celibacy but that doesn’t stop her from having feelings for him and still fighting the feelings for Trent.  She thinks Alessandro has feelings for her as well, but does he or is she really that bad of a person to have feelings for men that she can’t have?  To make matters worse, in her absence Trent is now dating Sam and Sam is telling her all about the time they are spending together ripping Lexie’s entire world apart.

Lexie has her chance to tell Trent  how she feels, but is that a chance she’s willing to take or will her growing attraction to Alessandro be the direction she takes?

I have to say this, this story is not for everyone.  The name of this book fits this book exactly.  One the one end she’s fighting her feelings for her step brother and on the other she’s fighting her attraction to a man who’s shown himself to God and is months away from becoming a priest.  It should be wrong on so many levels, but this is the BEST new adult book I have read to date.  This book has quickly made it’s way to the top of my favorite books of all time and this one would be difficult to beat, IT’S THAT GOOD.  I laughed at Lexie because she’s funny, I loved her friendship with Alessandro, and this book made me cry as she fought against her growing feels towards both men and the uncertainty of her future.  I read this book in less than one day and just couldn’t seem to get enough of the story.  I almost put it down a few times because this book was very emotional and I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue to read it, but it was worth every second and was an amazing journey.  I cannot wait for the next book in November, that’s all I can say because lets face it talking about it would only give away the plot of the second book and I know it will be just as great if not even better than A Little Too Far.  Lisa is an amazing author who pulls you in and holds you captive with her writing all the way to the end and leaves you wanting to read so much more into this storyline when it’s over.  This book can be summed up in one word, AMAZING, 5 incredible stars!
