Opposites in every way . . . except the one that matters

Shaw Landon loved Rule Archer from the moment she laid eyes on him. Rule is everything a straight--A pre-med student like Shaw shouldn't want--and the only person she's never tried to please. She isn't afraid of his scary piercings and tattoos or his wild attitude. Though she knows that Rule is wrong for her, her heart just won't listen.

To a rebel like Rule Archer, Shaw Landon is a stuck-up, perfect princess-and his dead twin brother's girl. She lives by other people's rules; he makes his own. He doesn't have time for a good girl like Shaw-even if she's the only one who can see the person he truly is.

But a short skirt, too many birthday cocktails, and spilled secrets lead to a night neither can forget. Now, Shaw and Rule have to figure out how a girl like her and a guy like him are supposed to be together without destroying their love . . . or each other

I have wanted to read this book for the longest time. So when the tour came up for it I jumped right on board because I had heard such great things about this book, but if I just knew I would never get around to reading and reviewing it anytime soon. I love the Marked Men series this is a series that I will love reading every single book because the characters are just so great and unique right down to their names. When I first saw the cover of this book I was like huh? His name is Rule? I was scratching my head then I really thought about it and then it dawned on me how unique that name really is. You see so many novels with common names but how many other romance novels can you name off the top of your head that one of the characters is named Rule? But it's not just his name the other people in this series as well, Shaw, Nash, Ayden, Rowdy, Rome, Jet, later on Asa, well you get my general point. I also love that there are so many tattooed bad asses in this books it seriously makes me swoon!
In Rule's story we meet Shaw and Rule. Rule's life with his family has never been easy but since the passing of his twin brother Remy three years ago his mother Margot cannot even be civil with him for more than ten minutes at a time. Shaw has been the glue that has tried to hold Rule's family together for years, ever since Remy brought her home to visit with them 5 years ago at the age of 14. Shaw's life wasn't easy. She grew up with wealth and is expected to dress, act, and date a certain way. Trouble with that? Shaw has been in love with Rule since the first moment she laid eyes on him. Rule never paid any attention to her and always treated her like the annoying little sister that he never wanted, never giving her the time of day. But that's never stopped Shaw from loving him and she comes and continues to pick him up every Sunday to go to brunch at his families house. Shaw has seen how Rule has a revolving door of women, she knows how he operates so she's used to seeing him with a different girl in his bed every weekend, even catching him one time with two women in his bed. What Rule doesn't know is that not only is she in love with him but every single time she see's him rolling out of bed with a different woman, her heart breaks a little more until the point that she can't handle it any more and after a fallout with Rule's family at brunch Shaw decides she can't do it anymore.
Shaw's life hasn't been easy, she is in school to be a doctor, has a great roommate and best friend named Ayden, and an ex boyfriend named Gabe that just won't leave her alone. He's the perfect mold for what they want their daughter to marry and told her that if she doesn't date him they won't pay for her school anymore. Around comes Shaw's birthday and a few too many shots on her part and she's hanging all over Rule who happens to show up at the bar she's at. He's decided she's had enough to drink so he takes her come to sober up. What he doesn't expect is to find himself with a hand full of drunk woman that wants to have sex with him. Even though Rule is sober he still wants Shaw and when she confesses she wants him, he takes her to bed only to discover she's a virgin and little does Rule know that she helt out all these years just for him. The sex in this scene was amazing, add plenty of tattoos and piercings into this and WOW.

Rule wakes up the next day and discovers that Shaw is gone and isn't very happy about it. He tracks her down and as much as she tries to play it off like it was nothing and to just let it go, Rule decides he wants to see where their attraction is headed. But this story from the start was never going to be easy. Take into account that Rule always viewed Shaw as Remy's girl only to find out she wasn't, Shaw's ex who can't seem to take a hint, Rule's family who can't seem to accept him for who he is, and Shaw's family that just can't seem to take no for an answer. But the biggest enemy in their relationship is themselves.

Loved their journey and also learning about the their friends in this story and how the lives of their other friends play a role in this story as well. I loved every second of this story and was so excited to start Jet and Ayden's story once I finished, 5 stars!

Title: Jet  (A Marked Men Novel #2)

Author:  Jay Crownover
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date:  May 28, 2013
Event organized by: Literati Author Services
Publisher: William Morrow an imprint of HarperCollins
With his tight leather pants and a sharp edge that makes him dangerous, Jet Keller is every girl’s rock and roll fantasy. But Ayden Cross is done walking on the wild side with bad boys. She doesn’t want to give in to the heat she sees in Jet’s dark, haunted eyes. She’s afraid of getting burned from the sparks of their spontaneous combustion, even as his touch sets her on fire.

Jet can’t resist the Southern Belle with mile-long legs in cowboy boots who defies his every expectation. Yet the closer he feels to Ayden, the less he seems to know her. While he’s tempted to get under her skin and undo her in every way, he knows firsthand what happens to two people with very different ideas about relationships.

Will the blaze burn into an enduring love. . . or will it consume their dreams and turn them to ashes?

The great thing about this series is that each book is standalone. Do I recommend reading Jet's story before Rule's? No. Reason? Jet and Ayden are first introduced in Rule and while they don't play a major role in the story, Rule and Shaw do return for Jet's story as their friends so some of the things mentioned about them make more sense if you have read Rule's story.
Ayden has starred in the face of rejection. One night with too much alcohol in Jet's car after a concert and Ayden practically threw herself at him. Jet flat out told Ayden that she was too good of a girl for him and that he wouldn't go upstairs with her. Problem? Jet and everyone else don't know the real Ayden, the Ayden she was before she left Kentucky and moved to Denver to start over.

Ayden has managed to bury her past life when she moved to Colorado and is determined to not be the girl she once was. No more men, drugs, alcohol and just all around bad decisions. She's determined to start over and look towards her future with a well planned out life goal and even a boyfriend named Adam who likes to wear sweater vests. Issue? Ayden doesn't feel anything for Adam and add in the fact that he wants nothing to do with her friends and they constantly tease her about sweater vest and she's starting to realize that after 4 months of dating she can no longer continue to see him when he wants to take it to the next level.
When Jet comes home from his latest tour, he has no where to go. His girl found another man while he was gone and threw all his belongings out on the front lawn. Jet moves in with Cora and Ayden, but Ayden is a hard temptation to resist for Jet and he has done nothing but think about her all these months and wish to take her to bed. Jet has a string of girls that come and go multiple times a week. Ayden and Cora have even turned it into a game of rating the women but you can clearly see how it's effect Ayden who has feelings for Jet.
When Valentines day roles around, Ayden is once again single having let go of Adam, only problem is that when Adam drops her off at the club where Jet is playing and he sees Adam he storms off. When Ayden finds him they share a moment in the bathroom after which Jet tells her it will never happen again. But Jet being Jet he can't stay away from Ayden for long and before you know it they are having sex. They aren't dating, they aren't partners, they are just having sex with one another. But Jet is starting to have feelings for Ayden and wants more. Ayden is scared what will happen with her friends find out who she really is so when the going gets tough for Ayden and her past literally comes back to haunt her she dumps Jet to the curb.

Jet's never had an easy life dealing with his dad that won't grow up and be a man, and a mother who just takes it and deals with it. All his dad wants to do is tour and party. So when the going gets tough for Jet and his belongings are stolen and Ayden walks away he lets her. Will Ayden and Jet be able to grow up and see that they need one another?

This story was a great romance novel. The characters were well written and thought out and had a lot of issues to deal with just like Rule and Shaw from book 1. Jet was hot and I loved how he wore tight pants that were practically painted on and how sweet and loving he could be at times. I really am looking forward to the third book and seeing what happens with Cora and Rome since I was secretly crossing my fingers that they would get a book after Rome was introduced in book 1, this is one series where I will be excitedly waiting for the next book. I would have loved more sex scenes in this book, but this book was still a great story that I really enjoyed reading, 5 stars!

Jay Crownover is the best-selling author of Rule. Like the characters in her Marked Men series, she is a big fan of tattoos. She loves music and wishes she could be a rock star, but since she has no aptitude for singing or instrument playing, she'll settle for writing stories with interesting characters and that make the reader feel something. She lives in Colorado with her three dogs.
