My review: Escaping Reality by Lisa Renee Jones

Infinite possibilities….

Infinite passion…..

Infinite danger….

His touch spirals through me, warm and sweet, wicked and hot. I shouldn’t trust him. I shouldn’t tell him my secrets. But how do I not when he is the reason I breathe? He is what I need.

At the young age of eighteen, tragedy and a dark secret force Lara to flee all she has known and loves to start a new life. Now years later, with a new identity as Amy, she’s finally dared to believe she is forgotten–even if she cannot forget. But just when she lets down her guard down, the ghost’s of her past are quick to punish her, forcing her back on the run.

On a plane, struggling to face the devastation of losing everything again and starting over, Amy meets Liam Stone, a darkly entrancing recluse billionaire, who is also a brilliant, and famous, prodigy architect. A man who knows what he wants and goes after it. And what he wants is Amy. Refusing to take “no” as an answer, he sweeps her into a passionate affair, pushing her to her erotic limits. He wants to possess her. He makes her want to be possessed. Liam demands everything from her, accepting nothing less. But what if she is too devastated by tragedy to know when he wants more than she should give? And what if there is more to Liam than meets the eyes?

I have to say that Lisa hit another home run with Escaping Reality.  If there is one thing that she is good at it's keeping your reader steamed up with hot sex and suspense that has you guessing at every turn.  Just when you think you know what is going to happen next to Amy you are surprised and the story goes in another direction.

Lara has been in hiding for a long time.  For the past 6 years everything has appeared to be okay.  She's been Amy for a long time and has allowed herself to believe that she has been forgotten and there is no more danger.  Amy has a job at a museum and is happy and content in her new life.  That is until one night at a party a note of the mirror from a man she's only met once turns her entire world upside-down and sends her back on the run.  She has no reason to fear her handler, he saved her once.  So with only the items he has instructed her to take from a locker in the airport she leaves New York to head for Denver with her new name Amy Benson.

There waiting in the airport she spots a man who makes her forget everything around her and ends up sitting next to him on the plane.  His name, Liam Stone.  Liam is a billionaire architect prodigy who goes after what he wants and doesn't stop until he gets it.  In the short flight, Amy feels a growing attachment to Liam, an attachment that frightens her and makes her want to run the other way.  But when they exit the airport Liam finds her and escorts her to her new apartment sweeping her up into a passionate affair that makes her forget everything but him.  She tries to run away from him because she doesn't want whoever is following her to kill Liam.  They've killed everyone she has ever loved, leaving her with on one to rely on but her handler and herself.  But try as she might she can't seem to let him go. He's passionate, dominating, and the prince charming she has been searching for.  Giving her more than she's ever expected or allowed herself to hope for.

But while that part of her life seems to be perfect, everything else seems to be going downhill.  She can't shake the feeling that she's being watched.  She hasn't felt that in a long time and it's not an easy feeling to shake.  On top of that, the handler sent her to a leasing office that turns out to be a law office to drop off leasing paperwork and is given a packet with what appears to be her "new job".  But the more Amy digs into the information she's given the more it starts to not make sense and Amy is left not knowing what to think or believe.  She hasn't heard from her handler and she's not sure who she can trust anymore.  Then there's Jared.  Jared is her neighbor across the hall.  He seems familiar to her she can't put her finger on why, make matters worse he appears to have ties to Texas where Lara is from.  Amy's world begins to crumble around her with the memories of her past slowly starting to surface causing her blackouts to resurface after years of not having them.  Time is running out and Amy knows she must start to rely on herself and depend on Liam, but when something comes to light about Liam, what will happen to Amy?

The ending of this book had my mouth hanging open.  I didn't see it coming, so when it happened I seriously sat there and stared at my screen for a good twenty minutes before I got up to start my review.  This book was brilliant and kept me guessing at every turn and I cannot wait for the next book to see what happens.  I don't want to wait, I want more of Amy and Liam now, but I know the wait will be well worth it.  Well done Lisa, 5 brilliant stars!
