Love & Devotion by Jove Belle Blog Tour Stop: Review

KC Hall loves her family, her small East Texas town, and her best friend, Emma Reynolds. All of that takes a backseat when her lover beckons. Lonnie is blond, beautiful, and willing. She’s also married and a lifelong friend of KC’s mama.
KC knows the affair is a bad idea, but she just can’t help herself. When presented with the lush landscape of Lonnie’s body, KC subscribes to the philosophy of orgasm first, think later.” Unfortunately, a secret that big is impossible to keep in a close-knit community where everybody knows everybody else’s business. The scandal would hurt her entire family.
Emma is KC’s exception, the one woman she loves enough to not have sex with. When Emma confesses that she’s loved KC since high school, KC is terrified. One wrong move and she could lose Emma completely.
Is she willing to let her family pay the price for her good time? Or will she turn to Emma to discover the true meaning of love and devotion?

I never thought I would be into f/f books, but I decided to give it a try and see how I liked it since I like books outside of my normal comfort zone.  I am really glad that Love & Devotion was my first f/f book because I really did enjoy this story.  Now that I think about it I can't figure out what I ever had against f/f books, this was my first but won't be my last.

KC Hall has been having an affair with an older woman for the past year.  Her name is Lonnie.  She's beautiful and KC has had a crush on her since high school.  Problem?  In addition to her being her mom's friend, she's also married with a daughter almost the same age as KC.  For a long time her relationship with Lonnie hasn't bothered her.  She gets what she wants and that's all that mattered to her for a long time.  As the story unfolds, KC starts to be tired of her always being available to Lonnie but Lonnie never being available to her when she needs her.  Everything is always done is a rush and behind closed doors where no one knows their secret.  KC's feelings towards Lonnie begin to escalate but the more she starts to feel towards Lonnie the more she realizes that Lonnie has no intention of ever leaving her husband and that she's only using KC because it's convenient.

The more KC begins to feel that her relationship with Lonnie needs to end, the more she starts to notice her best friend Emma for the first time.  Emma and KC have been best friends for a long time, but KC never realized that Emma had feelings for her beyond the normal friendship that they have.  The more she begins to realize that she has feelings for Emma the more she starts to question her view on her entire relationship with Lonnie.  She begins to see that it was wrong to lie to her family about who she was in a relationship with and that in order to be in a relationship with Emma she needs to open her eyes and figure out what she really wants.

As the story progresses, KC does a lot of growing up.  Not just in terms of Lonnie, but figuring out how to open up and be honest with her family.  Her two sisters Kendall and Trina knew of her relationship with Lonnie but never said anything to her about it.  It's not until Trina leaves her abusive husband does she begin to form a closer bond with her sisters.  But when a trip to Austen changes the dynamic of KC's relationship with Emma can she commit to Emma or will she forever view relationships in a sexual nature and not in an emotional one as well?  What happens when an ex of Emma's comes into the picture and still has feelings towards her?  And what happens when Lonnie isn't willing to let KC just walk away?

This was a great story about figuring out what you want in life and not just living in the moment.  This book was well written and very enjoyable.  I look forward to reading other books by Jove Belle in the future, 5 stars!

***ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review***
Jove Belle was born and raised against a backdrop of orchards and potato fields. The youngest of four children, she was raised in a conservative, Christian home and began asking why at a very young age, much to the consternation of her mother and grandmother. At the customary age of eighteen, she fled southern Idaho in pursuit of broader minds and fewer traffic jams involving the local livestock. The road didn’t end in Portland, Oregon, but there were many confusing freeway interchanges that a girl from the sticks was ill-prepared to deal with. As a result, she has lived in the Portland metro area for over fifteen years and still can’t figure out how she manages to spend so much time in traffic when there’s not a stray sheep or cow in sight.
She lives with her partner of twelve years. Between them they share three children, two dogs, two cats, two mortgage payments, one sedan, and one requisite dyke pickup truck. One day she hopes to live in a house that doesn’t generate a never ending honey-do list.
Incidentally, she never stopped asking why, but did expand her arsenal of questions to include who, what, when, where and, most important of all, how. In those questions, a story is born.
