Happy release day and also a very happy birthday to author Caisey Quinn!!!

Title: Girl with Guitar
Author: Caisey Quinn
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date: May 22, 2013
Length: 210 pages

Synopsis:

After Kylie’s dad dies in a freak accident, he leaves her with nothing other than her crazy step-mother, Darla, and the ability to play guitar. When Darla kicks Kylie out and she loses her job all in the same day, she hops a bus to Nashville determined to make her late father’s dreams come true. Waitressing and saving her pennies to record a demo, her big break comes when she’s asked to join a tour going down the tubes with once platinum album-selling country music superstar Trace Corbin. But touring with Trace is hardly a dream come true since he’s pretty much drinking his career down the drain. If Kylie can’t pull Trace out of his rut, he’ll pull her and her dreams down with him.

Teaser:

When they reached the sunroom, Trace was a perfect gentleman—much to her frustration. He handed her a towel, then did not so much as glance in her direction as he stripped down to his boxer briefs and wrapped a towel around his waist. She, on the other hand, couldn’t get enough. The sight of his bare skin had her synapses firing like AK-47 rounds.

He was thick and muscular and had just a hint of a farmer’s tan. Back muscles rippling with each movement reminded Kylie of the horses her grandparents had. Something clicked in her head as she realized what it was that had her practically panting after him. He was loaded, like probably obscenely wealthy, but he did all the work around the farm himself. Still took care of his sisters. Himself. Had callouses on his hands like her daddy did, because he wasn’t afraid of hard work. Okay, and yeah, he was hot as hell and could sing a girl’s panties right off of her.

She peeled her wet clothes off slowly—hoping he’d turn and look, but he just picked up what she’d dropped and darted out of the room. She kept her drenched bra and panties on and wrapped the towel around herself. She was feeling majorly insecure due to the “not at all interested” vibe Trace was radiating in her direction.

Kylie headed towards the master bedroom with the intention of using that bathroom to shower, but changed direction at the last minute. Since Trace was gone, she’d go ahead and add her bra and panties to the laundry. Borrowing Rae’s clothes was one thing, but the thought of wearing someone else’s underwear freaked her out.

She padded barefoot back towards the sound of a whirring washing machine. Trace was still nowhere to been seen when she finally found the laundry room. She dropped her towel and tossed her bra in the machine. She had just begun to slide her underwear down when the sharp intake of breath alerted her to the broad frame that darkened the doorway.

Review:
***Warning***  While most of my reviews are spoiler free this one is not!

I have to say this before I begin my review, Caisey Quinn has a true girl.  It's not very often that you meet a brand new author that you automatically love after the first book.  Girl with Guitar has not only moved into my top ten favorite books of all time (which I have proudly on display at the bottom of my blog) but has officially moved to the top of my most highly anticipated sequels of the year.  I was so disappointed at the end of the book because by the end all I wanted was more of Kylie and Trace but that disappointment was short lived when Caisey told me there were two more books in this series and that Girl on Tour will be out in the next few months that made my entire week so much better because I love to read and I want MORE MORE MORE of Kylie and Trace.  Oh and I LOVE THE COVER that only made me want to read it more I guess I got lucky because by chance I saw on one of my Twitter followers Tweets that a new author was looking for Bloggers for a cover reveal and release day event and I am for sure not sorry I took a chance on this author!

In the first book in this series we meet Kylie who's dad died in a freak accident and her step-mother Darla kicks her to the curb.  With no where to go, no family, and her guitar she says goodbye to her dad at his grave site and she boards the bus to Nashville to make all her country music dreams come true.  But when she gets there, it's not as easy as she thought it would be.  She gets turned down everywhere she turns and resorts to open mike nights at local clubs.  So walking down the street on a Saturday she was almost out of money, didn't even have a car to sleep in since Darla got it, and somehow ended up at a club she applied for a job at The Rum Room.  She decides to go inside and listen to the music they have for the night.  Little does she know walking in that she'll leave that day with a job after one of the other waitresses decides not to come in that night forcing the owner Clive to fire her.  There she makes friends with not only the owner but her waitress Tonya.  She enjoys her new job and then two weeks later comes the open mike night she signed up for.  While she's nervous about what Clive will think if she gets up there and plays since she's an employee Tonya tells her to go for it but to change her song so the crowd will know what song she's playing since that what the people that attend are looking for.

So with her guitar in her hand she does a modified version of Trace's Corbin's latest hit, Not that Kinda Man the crowd goes nuts.  Little does she know that the next act onto the stage is none other than Trace Corbin himself.  Kylie nearly dies of shock when she finds out he's there.  They do a song together and seem to hit off and Kylie finally feels like she's alive again for the first time since her dad died, that is until Trace Corbin's team invites her to go on tour with them.  After that it just seems like Trace turned cold and bitter, the tour was his come back tour his one last time with his record label to show that he's a changed man.  You see the thing with Trace is he has a drinking problem and he has a habit of showing up late or not even bothering to show up for his shows costing the label thousands of dollars the last girl he was on tour with quitting on him.  So Kylie became the replacement which Trace is not crazy about at all.

I have to say by the time I got the tour I had my mouth hanging open.  I was not expecting the book that I got.  (I mean that in a good way)  The relationship or I should say lack there of between Kylie and Trace was electric and had me laughing and scratching my head at the same time.  Trace kept acting like he didn't want Kylie he'd get close to her and kiss her and then run, back her into a corner get right up on her, and then run.  He even saved her at a frat party when some guy was trying to have sex with her but then he acted like he didn't care.  He really confused me, but Kylie was determined to save the tour and Trace along with it.  For her she was no longer concerned about what did or didn't happen with Trace she was more concerned about straightening him out and helping hit quit drinking.  She did all she could to help him even throwing out all the liquor on the bus, and just when I think all is going to be well in their world it all come crashing down.  I've never seen such a short relationship.  He brought her to meet his family at a birthday party, they had a whirlwind of sex and within a period of 24 hours the drama started up again.  You see there's a thing about keeping secrets, they have a thing about coming out at the worst possible moments and unfortunately with the return of Darla her world comes crashing down around her.

They finish out their last show and they go their separate ways but they meet up again when his sister invites Kylie out to a party at their house and the heart break for Kylie starts right back up again.  It was really hard for me to watch because I loved Kylie so much and all I wanted was for her and Trace to be together.  What I loved about this book was their was no giant cliff hanger at the end but it did leave it open ended for another book so it wouldn't have been the end of the world if there wasn't another book.  (I'm not saying don't write it I want more Kylie and Trace)  I also loved the lyrics in this book being a big fan of country music myself it made the book even more enjoyable for me.  This book is about finding yourself after you've lost everything and most of all the story of how Kylie saved Trace from himself.  Well done Caisey I give it 5 stars and a place in my top 10 favorite books!!
